Traditional Style
Traditional style for Christmas Mantle Decor typically encompasses full garlands, candles, stockings and maybe a strong central element above, like a mirror, sign or wreathe. Red and green are most often used in traditional Christmas decor, but that is certainly negotiable. Just choose whatever feels home-y and comfortable and put it everywhere!
Tip: Instead of buying large expensive pieces to achieve this look, consider layering multiple elements to create more depth.
Bring the Outdoors In
Creating that lodge or cabin feel is so beautiful, especially at Christmastime. The deep hues of evergreen contrasted by a flow of winter whites and accented with all manner of ‘outside’ elements bring this look all together for so much warmth. Plenty of wood accents, clusters of evergreen trees of all sizes, candles and stockings; that all you need to get this look off and running!
Tip: Natural elements that you can go outside and pick up for free like sticks, twigs, and pine cones can go a long way to get you started down this decor path.
Monochromatic – Winter White
Decorating with a color theme can go so many directions and winter white is no exception. It lends itself well to a wide array of styles. From country/rustic to minimalist/modern, to traditional, winter white can stand alone and shine!
Tip: A monochromatic winter white design theme is spectacular, but don’t forget to add contrast with dark elements, like natural items; evergreen boughs, wood, etc.
Make it Pop – Colorful Christmas
Want a blast of color? Then go for it! It’s all up to you and your tastes. There are no rules so make your own. All it takes is a few pieces that fit together to create your theme, then just carry it through everywhere!
Tip: Multi-Color themes can make a big splash, just don’t forget to make sure your colors don’t clash!
Minimalist
Minimalist design usually encompasses a modern flair, a monochromatic color scheme and clean, uncluttered lines. If your home follows these basic tenets then you can achieve a minimalist look with your Christmas Mantle Decor as well. It just takes a few, well chosen elements, to pull it off.
Tip: If your home is not already sporting a minimalist design, then this is not the option for you… Unless you feel like moving everything into storage throughout the Christmas season!
No Fireplace? No Problem! Christmas Mantle Decor without a Mantle
Not everyone has a fireplace and that’s ok! You can still have great ‘mantle decor’. There are many options. You could use a mantle, without a fireplace or you could choose to decorate some other furniture piece as a mantle. Remember, no rules! You could even simulate a fireplace with a cluster of candles or battery operated candles!
