Planting This Month – There’s something about this time of year that feels like possibility sitting right there in your hands.
Seeds don’t look like much.
Small. Dry. Easy to overlook.
But give them the right conditions, and they become something that feeds your family.
That never gets old.
Planting This Month – What’s Going in the Ground
April is when things really start happening in the garden.
Around here, that usually means:
- Tomatoes (once the threat of frost has passed)
- Peppers
- Squash
- Green beans
- Cucumbers
And then the steady, reliable ones:
- Lettuce
- Spinach
- Herbs tucked in wherever they’ll fit
It’s not about planting everything perfectly.
It’s about getting things growing.
Planting This Month – Lessons Learned the Hard Way
If there’s one thing gardening teaches you, it’s humility.
You will:
- Plant too early
- Forget something important
- Lose a crop you were sure would thrive
And then you’ll try again.
Some things I’ve learned:
Not everything needs to go in at once.
Spacing it out saves you later.
Pay attention to your soil.
It matters more than anything else.
Plant what your family will actually eat.
There’s no prize for growing something no one touches.
Planting This Month – Why It Matters
It’s not just about the food.
It’s about:
- Knowing where it came from
- Watching it grow
- Being part of the process
There’s something grounding about it.
Something steady.
In a world that moves fast, the garden reminds you that some things still take time.
Planting This Month – The Quiet Hope of It All
Every seed is a small act of faith.
You plant it not because you’re guaranteed a harvest…
But because you believe it’s coming.
And maybe that’s why it matters as much as it does.
