Marriage Matters: Love in the Middle of the Mess
Fight Fair – Most arguments don’t begin with something big.
They begin with exhaustion. With stress that’s been quietly piling up. With unmet needs that haven’t found the right words yet.
When you’re tired, patience leaves first. Words sharpen. Old frustrations resurface. And suddenly, you’re arguing about something small that feels way bigger than it should.
Fighting fair doesn’t mean avoiding conflict. It means remembering that the goal isn’t to win. The goal is to understand and repair.
On hard days, fair fighting might mean calling a pause before things spiral. It might mean saying, “I need a minute,” or “I want to talk about this, but not like this.” Those words don’t weaken a marriage. They protect it.
Marriage asks us to learn how to disagree without tearing each other down. To express frustration without disrespect. To leave room for grace when both people are running on empty.
You’re allowed to be tired. You’re allowed to be human. To Fight fair is simply choosing to be careful with each other anyway.
