Let’s Pick a Christmas Theme!
Starting your holiday home decorating with a Christmas Theme will help you plan a path to brilliance! I have pulled together a wide variety of options for you to peruse.
As you consider them, think about what you have that will lend itself to your chosen theme and what you would still need. Think about how that theme would play across your home because consistency is key in pulling off a pulled-together look.
Christmas Theme – Classically Natural
Bringing the outdoors in is always a beautiful touch for any home decor. It adds a relaxed, earthy ambiance and it is so warm and welcoming. Christmas decorating is no different. If you enjoy a charming, relaxing environment for the holiday season, then this may be your category.
Rustic – Nature with White
All parts of this look scream cozy…or rather, whisper it! From the pinecones to the cotton bolls to the burlap and even the wicker basket base; the whole look is so relaxing and then set off with a beautiful, minimalist white.
Natural Elements Come Together for Rustic Elegance
Pinecones and metal crosses–What?!? I would call it whimsical, but it doesn’t feel that way. It feels warm and inviting. Even the Christmas balls hanging from the tree, have a metal look to them. And, the wooden planter base is key. It is a solid and strong base that feels worthy to hold up this wonderful creation.
Mixing Natural Elements with Natural Elegance
This design is somewhat of a crossover. It brings the natural elements into a traditional tree design. The neutral colors with just a splash of gold keep it from overwhelming the natural elements.
Christmas Theme – Color
Many people choose their theme simply based on color, so what do you do when color is the theme? You run with it and go all the way!
Jewel Tone Christmas
The stately jewel-toned decorations on this Christmas tree are a perfect fit for their regal surroundings. It is very important to match your design to your home.
Unexpected Color, Cheery and Bright
Overdone should be overdone. When you choose an unusual theme or unusual colors, you should go all out for it. Don’t just put a few elements here and there, cover it and carry on!
Shades of Pink Flocked Christmas Tree
Another non-traditional color scheme, but carried out so well. A load of Christmas balls in varying shades of beautiful pink adorns this flocked tree, making it look as though it should be in a candy store.
Blue, White, and Red
Another non-traditional color scheme but it works because it feels like winter, blue and snowy, with cardinals perched on limbs.
Oh Say Can You See this Red, White, and Blue Beauty
Calling all patriots, show your pride with a decor theme of colors that don’t run.
Can’t Decide on a Color? …Just Use All the Colors with a Rainbow Christmas Theme
Christmas balls for stripes in all the colors of the rainbow. With this style in mind, you could also do an ombre-styled tree using balls of varying shades of one color.
Christmas Theme – Elegance
If you prefer to up your Christmas game with a shot of elegance, then the following will give you a variety of options to make that happen.
Simple, Understated, Minimalist, Beautiful
The beauty in this design is in the lack of color and overdone decor. The simple tree with white lights, a few of the same simple ornament, and a palette of white.
Black and White Christmas Theme
Black and white color schemes can go a variety of directions. The buffalo check is traditional, and the relaxed way the bows are tied is casual, but the addition of the gold and silver touches pushes this design toward an elegant look.
Blue and Neutral
Such a simple color palette in icy blue, but when mixed with neutral colors it feels warm and welcoming.
Farmhouse Glam Christmas Theme
It’s like Ginger and Maryann go together to decorate this tree. (Sorry if that goes over anyone’s head… look up Gilligan’s Island) I love this look! …Down-home and glamorous!
Rustic and Glam
Much like the Farmhouse Glam tree, this Rustic Glam tree just adds more of the natural elements front and center. The glitzy gold decorations are a great contrast to the pheasant feathers. It works!
Christmas Theme – Bring on the Metals
Copper and White Christmas
Gold and silver are regulars in the Christmas season, but copper? Wow! The copper is outstanding, to say the least. The copper and white are beautiful together; classy, and elegant. I think I would also like to see it in copper and turquoise.
Soft Blush and Silver
Very pastel, this soft, understated blush is highlighted by the sparkling silver.
Mixing Your Metals Christmas Theme
I’ve always been told not to mix my metals, but this definitely works! The gold, silver, and copper look terrific together, accented by a light touch of soft blush.
Christmas Theme – Traditional
There is a reason why the traditional sticks around… because it is beautiful, timeless, and classic.
Traditional Red and Gold Christmas Theme
The traditional red and gold don’t leave any questions. Guests do not have to wonder what season is being celebrated.
Traditional with Some Additional Touches
Red and white, traditional Christmas theme colors are accented with the black and white buffalo elements. The eucalyptus added all over the tree really softens all the edges. It is remarkable what that one element adds.
Traditional in Burgundy
Staying traditional with a different shade of red, but set off with strong gold elements, this tree feels homey and casual.
Traditional with a Playful Flair
The traditional red and green in this design are brought to life with all of the fun and playful ornaments. The striped and plaid ribbons add a beautiful touch that leads the eye up through the tree alongside all of the fun elements to enjoy.
Christmas Theme – Whimsical
Why not have fun with your Christmas theme designs? Have fun …and make a statement with these whimsical designs.
Making Beautiful Music
Play it again Sam! This musically themed tree is gorgeous, literally covered in bold ornaments and musical accouterment. Breathtaking!
Winter Woodlands
How gorgeous is this? Overflowing with nature… including the white owls that are placed throughout the entire tree. There is so much to look at on this one. I keep finding new elements!
Christmas in White
The all-white color scheme in this design lets the ornaments do the talking. The ornaments are large and earthy and the faux fur garland tops the look off beautifully,
All About Santa
Pick a theme and stick to it! There’s no guessing who this family is waiting for! Between the red and white striped ribbons and the Santas everywhere, this tree is full of fun and whimsy.
Fit for the North Pole
I truly love the oversized ornaments on this tree, all depicting various aspects of the North Pole. Fun!
Scandinavian Ski Lodge
This tree is everything: whimsical, rustic, traditional, elegant, warm, cozy, and gorgeous – all in one beautiful package! This theme would be easily extended throughout your home as well.
Wrapping it all up
