On the farmstead, we do a LOT of raising meat, hunting meat, butchering meat and therefore grinding meat. I’ve been doing this for a long time and I can tell you it’s not exactly easy work. I do, however, try to find different ways to make it at least a little easier.
Grinding Meat – A Better Way… with Kitchenaid
I do all of the animal processing around here and I’ve tried several different methods, going back quite a few years. I even used to use the hand crank style grinder! (Hated It!) Grinding meat by hand is not for the weak!
A few years ago, we spent several hundred dollars on an LEM electric processor. I figured it was pretty good, especially after using that hand crank model! But, I kept having to replace parts, fix parts and in the end, just cut up and freeze my meat because the dang thing wouldn’t work!
The grinder attachment that I have is the GVODE, the middle one below.
Pleased as Punch!
Then, after a suggestion from my sister, I decided to try the grinding attachment for my KitchenAid mixer. I honestly didn’t think it would be good enough to handle the amount of meat processing that I do, but man was I ever blown away! Grinding meat with my KitchenAid was a surprisingly awesome choice!!
This video review is concerning that attachment. I am not being paid in any way to review this product. I just felt like other people out there like me, ought to know!
I’d love to hear from you about your experience with grinding meat! Do you do much of it? What do you use to process your meat? Do you love your KitchenAid mixer as much as I do???
