Most people, when asked what comes to mind when they think about the Christmas season, will answer that Christmas cookies are in the top ten, maybe even higher. There’s a reason for that. Christmas cookies aren’t just yummy treats, they are also the flavor of childhood, family, happiness and of course, Santa Claus!
I’m sure that most people probably have their favorite go-to cookie recipes that are always on the menu. However, sometimes it’s nice to add something new. Here, I am adding 18 different recipes for Christmas Cookies for you to try and I would love to hear how you feel about them.
Maybe you have made some of these recipes before. Give us a review of them! How did you feel about them? Easy to make? Tasty? How did your family like them? Help us all out. Let’s get some pointers and direction for this season’s Christmas Cookies!

Christmas Cookies for Family Time
Christmas Cookies aren’t just yummy to eat, they can also be a great medium for bringing the family together. I know that my kids have always loved to bake cookies with mom. It really gives us a good deal of relaxed, fun time together with a yummy treat as a bonus!
…and those memories, folks. Don’t lost sight of the memories that your family is creating. Be assured, your kids are making memories whether or not you are involved. Make them good memories of great time together!
Here’s an Idea
Make it a game or contest. You could make multiple recipes that you all choose and taste test the for ‘the best’. Maybe your family can ‘rate’ each cookie on various elements; taste, of course, but also texture, aroma, ease of preparation. You could add the really good ones to your recipe collection with everyone’s ratings!
Another Awesome Idea with Christmas Cookies
Host a Cookie Exchange Party! If you’ve never heard of it, here’s the gist; you invite a specific group of friends that bake. Each of you choose a particular recipe for Christmas Cookies and try to each pick something different. Everyone bakes enough for each baker to take home a specified amount, dozen, half dozen, whatever you decided.
You get to enjoy each other’s company at the party and then go home with a good variety of Christmas cookies for your holiday. It’s wonderful to have various Christmas cookies for your Christmas guests instead of a bunch of the same things, and what a great way to get them!
Even More Great Ideas
This idea is something that you can organize with friends and family to help others during the holiday season. You could all bake a variety of Christmas Cookies and have a big bake sale or cookie auction to benefit a local charity; maybe for children at a children’s home or maybe for the local soup kitchen. These are terrific opportunities for your family to participate in a service project. Give it a try and let us hear about it!
One Last Idea
Another great service project to do with Christmas Cookies is create Christmas cookie baskets for the residents at your local Veteran’s home. We did this one year with our homeschool group. We baked cookies, created bags for the residents and our whole group got together and went caroling through the halls of their home. It was such a wonderful event.
*(note, you can call ahead to get a number of residents and to ask if there are any allergies to be aware of, just in case)
Take advantage of your Time Together and Bake up some Happiness
